Second Line Parade After Wedding In New Orleans

Second Line Parade After Wedding In New Orleans

A lot of weddings end in a “Second Line Parade.” If you are going to parade or march the streets you need a parade permit and police escort. The police decide the route you take and how long. The permit comes from the city runs about $55. Each officer runs $100 and 2 are the minimum needed. A band is also need and they run usually $100 per member so 5 member brass bands runs $500. Some are less so shop around. If you budget around $800 to $100 for an outside on the street Second Line parade you will do fine. Inside depends on the place you rent, they have their own rules. I am told you can call Office Don Powers, 504-343-5890 or donp1961@aol.com for info on a parade permit. Or the general phone number for the 8th Police District in New Orleans.
